The University of the West, located in the City of Rosemead, California, is seeking an entrepreneurial and creative person to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer. This is a unique opportunity in a growing environment in a position reporting directly to the President. This position requires an experienced administrator who will be a senior officer overseeing the Division of Finance and Accounting Services for the University. The Division of Finance and Accounting Services is composed of the Departments of General Accounting, Payroll and Bursar Office. The candidate will be the chief financial and operating officer responsible for the development of operating and capital budgets, financial and contractual management and accountability, and compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations affecting the University.
Qualifications:
- A
master's or doctorate degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related disciplines.
- A Certificate of Public Accounting (CPA) is a
plus.
- Demonstrated progressive senior management experience in an institution of higher education.
- Demonstrated leadership
ability with a high level of interpersonal skills to effectively develop and manage diverse work teams and motivate others.
- Ability to serve as an advocate for the identification of goals and priorities for continued strengthening and improvement of the overall administrative policies and processes.
- Strong
interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and decision
making skills.
- Strategic business planning and business management skills.
- Ability to lead, guide and integrate strategic
planning processes and organizational goal development.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Knowledge and
understanding of institutional policies and procedures and the regulatory environment within which they operate.
- Understanding of
Federal and State financial laws, regulations, and operating guidelines as they pertain to public institutions of higher education.
- Knowledge and understanding of the mission, goals, organization, and operational/financial infrastructure of a Higher education.
- Highly developed and comprehensive financial management skills. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
Knowledge of investment strategies and techniques.
- Ability to review and assess the operational and financial viability of new and existing contractual arrangements and grant proposals.
